Montgomery County Tasks a Pottstown Nonprofit to Provide ‘Eviction Prevention Services’
Montgomery County Board of Commissioners recently authorized almost $3 million to be allocated to YWCA Tri-County Area, of Pottstown to offer “eviction protection services” until June 30, 2025, with the possibility of a renewal of the agreement, writes Rachel Ravina for The Reporter via Main Line Times & Suburban.
The funding was made possible from federal COVID-19 relief dollars.
The eviction prevention services will be provided by three case managers who will work out of eight courts across Montgomery County.
Elise Chesson, chief advancement officer with the YWCA Tri-County Area, said that it is important to have case managers who can develop a relationship with the courts to help prevent evictions.
Financial assistance is given on a “case-by-case (basis) based on need,” she added.
The YWCA Tri-County Area in Pottstown helped 800 families with rent or utility assistance last year, according to the nonprofit’s website.
