Under a new agreement between Immaculata and Moravian universities, graduates with a Bachelor of Arts in Music at Moravian receive guaranteed preferred acceptance into Immaculata’s graduate music therapy program. In addition, Moravian students receive a 20 percent tuition discount on Immaculata music therapy programs.

Immaculata’s master’s in music therapy programs provide extensive training in the musical, clinical, and theoretical components of music therapy, allowing students to use music skills to help people improve their quality of life. There are two track options:

  • The Master of Music Therapy and Counseling (MMTC) emphasizes psychotherapeutic practices integrating mental health counseling and music therapy. This degree fulfills Pennsylvania’s academic requirements to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
  • The Master of Arts in Music Therapy (MAMT) focuses on professional practice in music therapy.

All courses are offered face-to-face on the University’s campus in Malvern in the evening and on weekends. This convenient schedule supports working professionals, and the programs can be completed in four to eight semesters, depending on the program track. Since Moravian does not have an undergraduate degree in music therapy, Immaculata offers equivalency courses designed for such students. With these classes, students can obtain board certification during their course sequence, which allows them to begin their music therapy career before graduation.

“We are thrilled to welcome students from Moravian, who now have a clear pathway to study music therapy at the graduate level,” stated Corey Olver, LPC, MT-BC, ACS, the Director of Immaculata’s graduate music therapy programs. “The Immaculata program will be richer for having students who have nurtured their interest throughout their undergraduate years and come to the music therapy program prepared and eager for the next level of their training.””

“We are very excited for our students to have a partnership with an institution that is relatively local and similar in mission and scope to Moravian,” stated Carol Traupman-Carr, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Moravian University. “Immaculata is a great fit for our students who are interested in taking their music skills and using them in the healthcare world. It’s very exciting for them.”

Moravian University is the nation’s sixth-oldest university, located in Bethlehem, and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees that blend liberal arts with professional programs. For over 275 years, Moravian University has prepared students for reflective lives, fulfilling careers, and transformative leadership in a world of change.
