Did You Catch Montgomery County Native Bradley Cooper’s Cameo on ‘Abbott Elementary?’
Montgomery County native Bradley Cooper showed his Philly pride in an “Abbott Elementary” cameo during a special post-Oscars episode, writes Franki Rudnesky for PhillyVoice.
The episode aired right after the Academy Awards on Sunday.
Cooper plays himself in the episode. A second grader brings him in for show-and-tell and all the teachers and students express their love for the “Maestro” star although they have trouble remembering correctly the movies he has starred in.
When a teacher played by Lisa Ann Walter asks Cooper why he is there, he says, “Well whenever I’m in Philly, you know the deli across the street? That’s my first stop.”
He explained, “My dad used to always take me there. They have the best hoagies in the city.”
Teachers and students alike gently poke fun at the star throughout his appearance.
One student asked him if he was in “Spider-Man” while another teacher said, “I just loved you in ‘The Holdovers,’” mistaking him for Paul Giamatti.
Cooper is not the first celebrity with Philly ties to appear on the Emmy-winning show. The Season 3 premiere last month included a Zoom call with Eagles players Jalen Hurts, Jason Kelce, and Brandon Graham.
“Abbott Elementary” airs on ABC, on Wednesdays at 9 p.m., and can be streamed on Hulu.
