Three Montgomery County spots are among the fourteen places that make the best tomato pie in the Philadelphia region, write Kae Lani Palmisano and Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Carlino’s Market in Ardmore offers a delicious signature tomato pie with fresh basil scattered generously over an abundance of chunky tomato sauce that tops a golden crust. The tomato pie is so good and opulent that it can easily serve as a stand-alone meal instead of just as an appetizer or a snack.

Meanwhile, Conshohocken Italian Bakery is a perfect option if you are looking to serve tomato pie at a party. In addition to making a delicious pie with a smooth tomato sauce drizzled with olive oil, the eatery will decorate the pie to your liking by stenciling it using garlic powder and cheese.

Finally, Corropolese, with locations in Norristown, Royersford, and Audobon, offers a light spongy dough with a slightly crunchy crust covered with a layer of sweet tomato sauce topped with a light dusting of Romano cheese. Additional toppings are also available, ranging from pepperoni and cheese to eggplant and hot peppers, among others.
