As Jason Kelce continues to mull his retirement, words of advice were recently passed down from Basketball Hall of Famer Shaq to Jason Kelce: Don’t make the “dumbass mistakes” that cost him his family, writes Justin Tasch for The New York Post.

Shaquille O’Neil gave his warning while talking recently with Kelce on his podcast, “The Big Podcast with Shaq.”

“My advice to you if you are going to retire: Accept it, enjoy your family, brother,” Shaq said.

He talked about how he lost his family and didn’t have anybody.

“I’m in a 100,000-square-foot house by myself,” Shaq said. “That’s not the case for you, so enjoy your beautiful wife, enjoy your beautiful kids, and never dwell on what we had,” Shaq said.

Shaq O’Neil has admitted he was not the “best partner” to his ex-wife Shaunie. They have four children—sons Shareef and Shaqir, and daughters Amirah and Me’arah.

The basketball star also has a daughter, Taahirah, with ex-girlfriend Ametta Yardburgh

Shaq initially filed for divorce in 2007. Shaunie filed for separation in 2009 and finalized the divorce in 2011.

Kelce is expected to decide soon on whether he will return for a 14th season with the Philadelphia Eagles.
