Montgomery County Community College is seeking applicants for two positions, including the Manager of Disability Services position and the Part-Time Academic Advisor position.

The Manager of Disability is responsible for counseling and advising and securing services for students with disabilities.

The job description also requires the following tasks:

  • Coordinating services
  • Consulting on mental health and disability services
  • Ensuring compliance with approved reasonable accommodations for all qualified students
  • Conducting ADA & Section 504 training and workshops
  • Facilitating accommodations for students with disabilities

This position requires the new hire to submit the Child Abuse clearance, the PA State
Police check, and FBI fingerprint results to Human Resources prior to their first day of
employment.

This position has been approved for a flexible work option arrangement.

To qualify for this position, the selected applicant must have the following skills:

  • Master’s degree in Rehabilitative Counseling, Special Education, Counseling, Psychology,
    or other related areas.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in implementing effective strategies to provide
    reasonable accommodations for disabilities.
  • Counseling experience in an educational institution.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities in a higher education setting,
    reviewing disability-related documentation and determining accommodations.
  • A demonstrated understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section
    504 of the Rehabilitation Act as it relates to higher education.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of assessment as applied to educational settings, assistive technology, and
    legal considerations affecting students with disabilities (particularly the Americans with
    Disabilities Act)
  • Proven ability to work productively with faculty, students, and staff

This position is open until March 10, 2024.


The Part-Time Academic Advisor is responsible for providing one-on-one as well as group academic, career and
college transfer advising to students.


This position is 5 days per week with a total of 25 hours per week. During peak times, employee may work up to 29
hours. Hours are Monday through Friday with a Saturday rotation. Both day shift and evening shift are available.
This position requires travel between all campuses and off-site locations.

This position requires the candidate to submit the following 3 clearances as a condition of pre-employment:
Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Check, and FBI Fingerprints. Flexible work may be considered for this position.

To qualify for this position, selected applicants must have the following credentials and skills:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of student development theory, including
    career and transfer decision making.
  • Experienced in developmental or college level advising.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of technologies.
  • Evidence of continued professional growth and development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to work with diverse populations, such as under-resourced
    groups and first-generation students.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to a comprehensive community college
    philosophy.
