Our life journey often seems like a roller coaster ride with all the ups and downs we face at any given time. One of life’s biggest mysteries is why things happen the way they do.

Jen Coleman, a nurse at Jefferson Abington, recently went through a particularly transformative journey as she saved a life and had hers saved right back.

It all started when Coleman saved a newborn baby’s life by discovering she had a cardiac abnormality, according to 6abc.

Coleman developed a close relationship with the family of the baby, Claire Benton, and was planning to run the Broad Street Run with Claire’s father, Ken Benton.

Prior to that, Jen Coleman had been working hard with a health coach to shed some pandemic weight. Her weight loss journey has even been featured in People.

Just before the day of the Broad Street Run, though, she was diagnosed with cancer.

Coleman went through treatment and is now cancer-free. She said her life was saved through not only her doctors, but also her support network which included her family, Ken who ran the Broad Street Run for his baby and Coleman, and Omar Cruickshank at Crush Crew Jiu Jitsu where she continued to train and stick to a healthy lifestyle.

Now she is a health coach helping others.
