A Jefferson Health project recently received a grant of $200,000 from Independence Blue Cross as part of its 2024 Clinical Care Innovation program, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The program is designed to support projects focusing on improving the quality and delivery of health care.

The Jefferson Health project is one of four that were approved among 18 submitted applications.

“In this third year of selecting competitive Clinical Care Innovation Grants, we had a great response to our call for applications for 2024 and are excited about the projects we will be supporting,” said Dr. Rodrigo Cerdá, senior vice president of health services and chief medical officer at Independence Blue Cross.

“Developing telemedicine services to support patients eligible to receive medication for opioid use disorder” is the grant-winning initiative at Jefferson Health. It is led by Dr. Gregory Jaffe, a clinical assistant professor and co-director of scholarly inquiry for population health research at Jefferson.

Its goal is to provide support to patients who suffer from opioid use disorder and to expand their medication access through universal screening for the condition as well as the opportunity to receive medications via telemedicine.
