Two Montgomery County kids got the surprise of a lifetime when their father, who was serving in Saudi Arabia with the Air National Guard, reunited with them at their school, writes Ellen Kolodziej for FOX 29 Philadelphia.

Tech Sergeant Dustin Unger was apart from his kids, Jackson, and Evelyn, for nearly four months. The separation was especially hard over the holidays.

“It was extremely hard because I was seeing them opening presents and wanting to be there and try out all the different new toys, they got but it was extremely hard,” said Unger.

The kids’ mother, Tara Unger, works at Hallowell Elementary in Horsham. She helped plan a special assembly to teach the students about the military and to surprise her kids by having their dad show up.

As soon as the Tech Sergeant walked on stage, both kids could not contain their excitement and ran into his arms.

“I thought it was just great that I could see him again and I was just very happy because I missed him so much,” said first-grader Jackson Unger.
