Church Farm School, an Episcopal boarding and day school for approximately 140 boys in grades 9 through 12, has created the Arthur Smith Endowed Scholarship.

Arthur Smith has been an integral part of the CFS community for 45 years, starting as a cottage faculty member in 1978. He is currently Dean of Students, a STEM faculty member, and varsity wrestling coach. Since the Griffins joined the PIAA in 2008, Smith has been named Coach of the Year (2017) and coached 98 different wrestlers (many of whom had never wrestled before CFS) to districts, winning 17 individual district championships. CFS has had a wrestler qualify for the state tournament eight times, and two wrestlers have brought home medals.

Talmadge O’Neill, a 1986 CFS graduate and entrepreneur based in California, along with other generous alumni, have pledged to match donations to the scholarship fund, two to one, up to $100,000.

The goal of the fund is $125,000, but the more money received, the greater the scholarship that can be offered annually to a deserving CFS student. While all CFS families pay what they can afford, most pay an average of $3,500. Financial aid from the school — offered through generous philanthropy to CFS and its strong endowment — make up the difference.
