Merion Station Couple Prepares Holiday Care Packages for American Troops

By

Sandy and Fred Klevan’s home in Merion Station was recently the headquarters for an important holiday mission, writes Beccah Hendrickson for 6abc.

The first weekend of December, they organized care packages for American troops who will be deployed over the holidays.

The items for the care packages were donated from various sources.

“So our living room has a lot of assorted different boxes in here,” Sandy Klevan said during the visit from 6abc.

Her husband Fred added, “We have TastyKakes and intimates, things that make them think of home, Especially during Christmas when they miss their families the most.”

The Klevans have been organizing holiday care packages for deployed troops since 2006, inspired when Fred had a friend deployed during the holidays.

Fred and Sandy are sending out over 100 boxes this year, filled not only with snacks and toiletries but with letters expressing a thank you for their service and friendship bracelets.
