The owners of a Wynnewood home always felt their tiny yard had big potential as a warm and inviting entertainment spot, writes Eileen Smith Dallabrida for Main Line Today.

That is why they teamed up with Terren Landscapes of Conshohocken and Barrickman Design Group in Ardmore to transform the tiny space strewn with overgrown weeds into a private courtyard perfect for entertaining friends and family.

Now the space behind their Wynnewood home has plenty of cozy seating around a firepit and a dining area that can seat 12 guests comfortably. And with a new brick pizza oven, feeding guests has become a snap.

There is also a private entrance through a wooden garden gate. With special touches like the lattice-topped fence and the custom shed with its cupola and weathervane, the yard now feels like a private oasis.

The patio was designed using concrete pavers in a hexagon motif and around the perimeter lush, colorful vegetation brings pops of color and texture to the space.

Designer Cara Santoleri said, “There’s nothing these clients love more than entertaining. This landscape is extra special at night, when most people have more free time to enjoy themselves.”
