Prince Albert II of Monaco is coming to Philadelphia on October 27 to present the 16th Planetary Health Awards sponsored by his foundation at the Kimmel Center, writes Melissa Jacobs for Main Line Tonight.

“It will be great for the city and the foundation,” said John B. Kelly III, Prince Albert’s first cousin and president of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation’s U.S. chapter.

Kelly, who grew up in Wynnewood, is related to Prince Albert through the late Grace Kelly. She became known as Princess Grace de Monaco after marrying Prince Albert’s father, Prince Rainier III. The famous actress is Kelly’s aunt.

But despite this being the hometown of his mother, this is the first time that Prince Albert is bringing the award ceremony to Philadelphia.

He is hoping to raise awareness of climate change, biodiversity, and conserving water resources by bringing some of the world’s best scientific minds who are working on those issues to Philadelphia. The awards ceremony and the panel are free to attend and open to the public.
