During the day between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., visitors to Peter Wentz Farmstead can immerse themselves in life in a military camp.

Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to stand with General George Washington against the British troops?

Well, now is your chance, according to the For MediaNews Group for the Main Line Times & Suburban.

To honor Washington’s stop at Peter Wentz Farmstead in Lansdale in the fall of 1777 and the Pennsylvania State Regiment, there will be “an evening’s march” starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 14.

The approximately one-mile march will start at 2030 Shearer Road and will last for about an hour.

Everyone participating in the march will get a taste of what the troops faced during the Philadelphia Campaign of 1777.

During the day between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., visitors to Peter Wentz Farmstead can also immerse themselves in life in a military camp.

You will be able visit a military camp kitchen, tour the home where Washington stayed and watch marching and firing demonstrations.

At the end of the day there will be a “few de joie,” a musket firing celebration.

Registration is needed for this special event.

Read how to register and more about the part the Peter Wentz Farmstead played in our fight for independence in Main Line Times & Suburban.
