Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col George Bivens takes a question from Delaware County-based comedian Mike Rainey.

At a news conference following the capture of escaped murderer Danelo Cavalcante Wednesday, one oddball question stood out, writes Nick Vadala for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“Sir, was there any concern he would team up with another small man to step inside of a trench coat, Little Rascals-style?” the questioner asked Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens.

“No,” Bivens responded.

That part of the news conference quickly went viral. The questioner turned out to be Delaware County-based comedian Mike Rainey.

Rainey is known for his podcasts Lil Stinkers and Dad Meat, which focus on irreverent takes on true crime stories.

He went to Chester County hoping to run across Cavalcante, but when his capture was announced, Rainey went to the news conference instead.

“I see a dog there, and I’m like, ‘All right if they’re letting this … dog hang out here, I could probably get in,” Rainey said.

Rainey said in his podcast he was trying to mock Cavalcante, who is 5 feet tall and 120 pounds.

But he “got knocked over with hatred” after he asked the question. Even some of his viewers took offense to his lack of reverence.

Here is the full press conference with Lt. Col. George Bivens. Mike Rainey’s question comes in 24 minutes and 50 seconds into the press conference.
