Manu Ghigliotti was recognized as the 2021 Atlantic 10 offensive player of the year, and she also leads the conference in goals, shots, and shots on goal.

During Saint Joseph’s field hockey game against Yale on September 3, St. Joe’s star player Manu Ghigliotti tied the program record for most goals and points in a game, but all she cared about was the team’s 6-1 win, writes Mia Messina for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Her focus is always on her team members.

“I really care about this team and the culture of St. Joe’s,” Ghigliotti said. “It’s nice to, of course, tie a record, but I’m not thinking about that. I want to score, of course, and I want to win.”

Her coach Hannah Prince said that when she texted Ghigliotti after the game to say “Congrats”, she just said, “I’m really glad we got the win.”

Ghigliotti, a senior, brings an Argentine style of play that focuses on individual talent and hard work to St. Joe’s, but she never forgets that all her successes wouldn’t have been possible without her teammates.

She was recognized as the 2021 Atlantic 10 offensive player of the year, and she also leads the conference in goals, shots, and shots on goal.

She emphasizes what is really important to her is playing a sport she loves, one she has been playing since she was 5 years old in Buenos Aires, and having fun with her friends.
