While jobs that require a college degree generally pay more, some high-paying jobs in Philadelphia don't have that requirement, including distribution managers.

While jobs that require a college degree generally pay more, some high-paying jobs in Philadelphia don’t have that requirement, according to a new report by Stacker.

Stacker used Bureau of Labor Statistics data to determine the 50 highest-paying jobs in Philadelphia that do not require higher education.

The top spot belongs to nuclear power reactor operators, who earn a median annual wage of $114,830, or a median hourly wage of $55.21. The job requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Currently, 206 people in the area hold this job. Long-term on-the-job training is required.

Commercial pilots are second with a median annual wage of $114,660. A postsecondary nondegree award is required. There are 340 people working as commercial pilots currently in the region.

Third place is reserved for transportation, storage, and distribution managers. They boast a median annual wage of $114,120 or a median hourly wage of $54.87. Total employment in the region is 2,570 people.

Also in the top ten are:

  • No. 4: Athletes and sports competitors ($108,530)
  • No. 5: Gambling managers ($107,910)
  • No. 6: Petroleum pump system operators, refinery operators, and gaugers ($107,860)
  • No. 7: First-line supervisors of police and detectives (105,710)
  • No. 8: Electrical power-line installers and repairers ($104,740)
  • No. 9: Power distributors and dispatchers ($100,590)
  • No. 10: Power plant operators ($99,220)
