Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Kicks Off 6th Annual Golf Outing
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office welcomed players and guests at Blue Bell Country Club for its 6th Annual Montgomery County Sheriff’s Golf Outing on Tuesday, according to a staff report from The Times Herald.
The event starts at noon and culminates with a banquet at 5 p.m.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Golf Outing is the chief fundraiser for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Scholarship Fund, which was established in 2017 by Sheriff Sean Kilkenny. The foundation aims to help sheriff’s office employees and their families achieve their higher education goals.
So far, the scholarship has supported only two-year programs at Montgomery County Community College. Starting this year, the scholarship will also be applied to four-year degree programs at Penn State Abington. The scholarship is also going to be available to all county employees from now on, with sheriff’s office employees still getting preference.
The keynote speaker is Montgomery County Commissioner Jamila Winder, a Penn State graduate. Speakers will also include Sheriff Sean Kilkenny and Penn State Abington Chancellor Margo DelliCarpini.
