Upper Dublin’s Suzy Kolber Laid Off from ESPN After 27 Years with the Network

Sports commentator and on-air host Suzy Kolber was among the recent ESPN layoffs, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Kolber, a native of Upper Dublin, had been with the company for almost 30 years. She helped the network launch ESPN2 in 1993 by co-anchoring SportsNight with Keith Olbermann.

She is a Philadelphia Sports Hall of Famer and is best known for her reporting for the National Football League. She has also covered other sporting events including the X Games, NASCAR races and Grand Slam tennis tournaments.

Most recently, she anchored the “Monday Night Countdown” pre-game program. She was also a frequent SportsCenter anchor during the NFL offseason. She reported from the sidelines of Super Bowl XL in Detroit in 2006.

Kolber grew up in Dresher and graduated from Upper Dublin High School in 1982. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Miami in 1986.
