MLB partner EL1 Sports, a youth sports company, is continuing its expansion in the Philadelphia Region with its acquisition of D1 Baseball Academy of Huntingdon Valley, writes John George for The Philadelphia Business Journal.

EL1 Sports, which is based in Tacoma, Washington, also has recently acquired On Deck in Newtown Square and additional training sites in Michigan and Illinois.

The company’s business model is to work with existing training centers to provide extra resources such as backend administrative and operational support and improved technology and training tools.

Frank Decembrino, vice president of business development at EL1 Sports, explained that the acquired training facilities will be able to hire more staff and expand their programs, including adding extra camps and clinics for both individual athletes and teams.

Stuart Drossner, lead instructor for what is now EL1 Sports Huntingdon Valley, said, “The company’s administrative and operational expertise will give our coaches more bandwidth to focus on what is happening on the field.”

Last year EL1 Sports first entered the Philadelphia markets with the acquisition of training sites in Ambler, Conshohocken, and Feasterville.
