The Boys and Girls Club has broken ground on its newest location in Ambler aimed at improving the lives of children, writes Justin Heinze for the Patch.

The Wissahickon Valley Boys and Girls Club will be the third branch of the North Penn Valley club.

The groundbreaking was held on 240 Maple Avenue earlier this month. The 27,000-square-foot clubhouse is expected to be finalized by the fall of 2024.

Whitpain Township Board of Supervisors Chair Scott Badami, several other local leaders, and donors, as well as club members attended the groundbreaking.

“Our location is in the heart of the community we serve,” said Robert K. Kreamer, CEO of North Penn and Wissahickon Valley Boys & Girls Club.

The facility will have homework classrooms, a gymnasium, and a kitchen, along with games and technology spaces as well as outdoor play areas.

The organization’s presence in the region is not new. The nonprofit has been serving the Ambler area for the last 12 years. This new facility will make it possible to reach even more children.
