King of Prussia-based Purolite is joining the wave of investments in Chester County facilities. The company is spending $190 million to turn Landenberg’s W.L. Gore facility into its latest factory. Purolite is a company that produces resin beads for purifying water and medical pills, writes Joseph N. DiStefano for The Philadelphia Inquirer.  

The plant, which will be among mushroom farm sheds, will be the first in the U.S. for the biological division of the company. The company is opening the plant to increase employment and increase production in the beads for various medical products including the purification of mRNA vaccines.  

The company also has plants in Northeast Philadelphia, Romania, Wales, and China. The Chester County plant will be built in two stages, the first stage will take two years.  

Other facility investments in Chester County include Piasecki Aircraft Corp’s purchase of Lockheed Sikorsky helicopter factory, steelmaker Cleveland-Cliff’s new and updated space along the Brandywine River, International Paper’s box plant in West Sadsbury Township, and South Mill Champ’s mushroom farm in Elk township.
