Excitement filled the new Phoenixville Bike Park on Franklin Street last week as dozens of bikers of all ages lined up for their turn on the new ramps and hills, writes Holly Herman for the Phoenixville Patch.

Built at the cost of around $90,000, over 100 families and businesses donated to help make the dream become a reality. Now, bikers will be able to jump the tracks for years to come. According to one of the riders, the nearest bike park is hours away, making the Phoenixville one even more appealing.

As popularity in this trend rises, there is talk of building a bike skills park at Mill Road Park in Tredyffrin Township.

“This park will be cherished by the entire region for a long time,” said John Ewald, president of the borough council. “This is a very exciting project and I want to thank everyone who was involved. In Phoenixville, we make things happen.”

There are three levels to the track: Green for beginners, Blue is for intermediates, and Black Diamond for advanced riders.

“I love it here,” said 15-year-old Lucas Starner. “This is the second time I’ve been here and it’s so convenient.”
