With the announced closing of Cabrini University after the 2023-24 academic year, Immaculata University has created supportive pathways to enable Cabrini students to easily transfer to Immaculata. 

Recognizing that students and parents are disheartened and understandably concerned by the news of Cabrini’s impending closure, the Immaculata administration analyzed academic programs, tuition structures, and admissions processes to devise transfer strategies that cater to students’ needs.  

“We are all saddened to hear the news about Cabrini,” said Immaculata’s President Barbara Lettiere. “We’re all a part of a close-knit group of Catholic higher ed institutions in the Philadelphia region. Decisions like the one that Cabrini made can’t be easy, so our hearts are with them.”

The need for Cabrini students to continue pursuing their undergraduate and graduate degrees with as little disruption as possible is of primary importance to Immaculata administrators, and Lettiere understands the challenges students face.

“Students, as well as their parents and guardians, spend a great deal of time considering college programs, locations, costs, outcomes, sports, campus life, and more before finally deciding which universities to attend,” said Lettiere. “It’s really difficult to see students’ plans upended, but we want them to know that we’re here for them and that we can absolutely help them complete their studies and meet their intended graduation dates.”

To make transferring to Immaculata as seamless as possible, the Immaculata Admissions team has implemented special measures for Cabrini students.

For Cabrini undergraduate students, Immaculata will:

• eliminate the application fee and provide direct admission
• offer personalized financial aid packages for the 2023-2024 academic year that will match their current total cost of tuition
• waive the $100 enrollment deposit
• accept all college credits for classes in which they earned a C or higher
• evaluate their transcripts and work with them to determine how their credits will transfer into Immaculata academic programs

Immaculata will also make it easier for Cabrini graduate students to transfer by offering favorable pricing, waiving application fees and working directly with interested students to review transcripts and provide one-on-one admissions counseling. 

While Cabrini’s closure announcement raises concerns about private, faith-based institutions, Lettiere sees a positive outlook for Immaculata. “Enrollments are steady, student outcomes are excellent, our sports teams are performing well, and our students are happy,” Lettiere said. “Our commitment to educating the leaders of tomorrow is unwavering, and the decisions and actions we’ve taken over the past several years are to ensure Immaculata is a thriving institution.”
