King of Prussia-based Helping Hands Family in Talks to Take Over Delco Autism Care Centers

King of Prussia-based Helping Hands Family is currently in talks to take over two ABA2Day Delaware County care centers that are set to close in August, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

If the negotiations are successful, the Montgomery County company will save the jobs of 94 staff members from the two facilities.

“We have jobs for these people,” said Colleen MacDonald, a Helping Hands spokesperson.

Helping Hands and ABA2Day both provide children with autism and other special needs with educational and behavioral health services. Both companies specialize in applied behavior analysis. ABA is a psychological intervention that works on increasing helpful social skills and behaviors and decreasing harmful ones.

Bucks County-based Invo Healthcare, the owner of ABA2Day, disclosed its plans to close the two centers in Crum Lynne and Newtown Square earlier this month.

Invo approached Helping Hands to ask if it would consider taking on clients, staff, and building leases before these scheduled closings, and received affirmative answers to all requests.

“We are growing, and it makes sense to us,” said MacDonald.
