Chester County Native One of Top Ten Players from Philadelphia Region in WNBA History
The Philadelphia region has a long tradition of local players joining the WNBA, writes Jonathan Tannenwald for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
One of them is Tora Suber, a Coatesville native and alumna of the pre-split Downingtown High School, who is among the top ten players from the Philadelphia region in WNBA history.
Suber, who ranked eighth, was a first-round pick in the WNBA’s college draft for the league’s first season in 1997. That means that she can be considered the first Philadelphia area player to join the league.
She played three seasons in total. Two of them were for the Charlotte Sting and one for the Orlando Miracle.
