Gabriella Saylor has fond memories of visiting her father, Fred Saylor, at Centre Square Fire Company in Blue Bell while growing up, and now she volunteers with him helping to keep the community safe, writes the staff at The Times Herald.

Gabbie joined Centre Square’s junior firefighting program when she was 16 and has been volunteering there for seven years.

Before she could fight fires inside buildings, she had to complete her Firefighter I certification, which included fire ground support, exterior firefighting, and interior firefighting.

Fred said that watching Gabbie graduate from the Montgomery County Fire Academy with her certification was one of his proudest moments.

“She’s following in my shoes and that’s one of the greatest things. I couldn’t be more proud as a father.”

Fred has been a firefighter with Centre Square Fire Company for 35 years and currently volunteers as the fire police.

Father and daughter enjoy being able to bond over their experiences with the fire company.

“We always have new and exciting things to talk about,” Fred said. “She is dedicated to the fire company and the job. She can rise to do the challenge of different skills and situations.”
