Bala Cynwyd’s Pescatore served as the beta testing site for a mobile app that allows customers to pay for their meals. The app Checkplease helps ease the process between patron and merchant for food establishments.
Drexel-educated Mike Bernicker is the cofounder and VP of operations of Carmate, which connects people with car dealerships. But Checkplease is the passion project of Bernicker.
The Philly native says that the original product featured an app to place orders for customers. He later developed an app for merchants. The app recently evolved to connecting with the restaurant’s point of sale system so customers could send in their own orders.
“So now customers can sit down, scan a QR code, order their meal, close their check out, they don’t have to wait for a bill,” he said.
