Envision Physician Services to Release 162 Conshohocken Workers This Summer
Envision Physician Services, a Nashville-based national medical group that employs physicians who work in hospitals and other sites owned by other companies, is planning to lay off 162 administrative workers in Conshohocken. Harold Brubaker revealed the planned cutback in The Philadelphia Inquirer.
According to a company spokesperson, the Conshohocken office will still employ hundreds of employees after the reduction in force.
Layoffs are coming amid the preparations for bankruptcy by the company’s parent, Envision Healthcare. Private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, New York, paid $5.5 billion in 2018 to take the firm private, but Envision continued to struggle under a huge debt load and high labor costs.
According to a May 8 notice to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, the layoffs are the result of “a transaction with a joint venture partner that closed in April.”
The notice did not provide any additional details.
Conshohocken layoffs will happen in two waves: The first wave will take place in July, when 37 employees will be cut, and the second wave for the remaining 125 workers will be in September.
Doctors treating Envision’s customers are not affected by the staff reduction.
