Spread Bagelry to Raise Brand Profile in Montgomery County
Spread Bagelry is looking to continue its spread its brand presence with additional expansion. Maggie Mancini reported the plans in PhillyVoice.
Spread Bagelry’s specialty is a Montreal-style bagel, which is generally smaller, thinner, crisper, and sweeter (honey is used in the boiling process) than its New York counterpart.
And flavor aside, there’s another draw customers enjoy; they can watch, and smell, the hand-rolled goods emerge from the oven on a large paddle.
The brand first opened in Rittenhouse Square in 2010, and according to the Philadelphia Business Journal, its leaders launched one new location every year since.
Locally, one store is coming to Ambler in June, and three will debut in Wynnewood this fall. They will augment the current Montco shops in King of Prussia and Bryn Mawr.
“Every store is unique and based on the neighborhood surrounding it,” said Jamie Schrotberger, Spread Bagelry’s CEO.
“…[O]ur store in Bryn Mawr, which is right near the train station, … was designed to look like a vintage train,” he described. “I think that because every store’s design is focused on its neighborhood, there will be some added features [in the expansions], even though the core of the business is the same.”
