The Pennsylvania governor wants Montgomery County to see an expansion in emergency services. Gov. Josh Shapiro — in his first return to the area since being elected governor — visited a 911 center in Eagleville last week. There, he proposed increased investment in 911 and EMT services, reported Justin Heinze for the Norristown Patch.

“I know firsthand how our local municipal and county governments are on the front lines of keeping their communities safe, and they need our support now more than ever,” said Shapiro.

Emergency services throughout the state of Pennsylvania have been challenged with shortages since before the onset of the pandemic.

The $50 million proposed budget would go toward the improvement of 911 centers, and $36 million would be devoted to training, equipment for emergency medical services (EMS) workers and firefighters.
