Leo’s Steak Shop in Folcroft has walked away with this year’s March Cheesesteak Madness Cheesy Cup after voters and judges agreed they had the best overall cheesesteak in the region, writes Bill Zimmerman for PhillyBite Magazine.

The local sandwich shop has won the “best cheesesteak in Delaware County” title for several years, and even took the Cheesy Cup trophy during the inaugural March Madness cheesesteak competition in 2020.

Now for one year, the Cheesy Cup is theirs once again.

The final match was between the No. 4 seeded Leo’s in the Delco shop category and No. 10, Tony’s of West Reading.

In the end, Leo’s supporters gave the shop 3,616 online votes over Tony’s 2,854.

During the final four, two judges split Leo’s vote but the people’s online vote turned the tide toward the Folcroft shop.

Tony’s won the hearts of both judges to advance but did not see as much popular support.

Leo’s Steak Shop has lines out the door for its 18-inch roll steaks. The shop has been around for 50 years. It was founded by the Mullan Brothers at the Sharon Hill trolley stop in 1974.

It later relocated down the street at 1403 Chester Pike in Folcroft.
