17th Valley Forge Rev Run Sets 2023 Records for Participants’ Points of Origin and Sponsor Numbers
The Apr. 16, 2023, edition of the Valley Forge Revolutionary 5-Mile Run in Valley Forge National Historical Park broke two records in the event’s history:
- Its 1,200+ participants — runners and walkers — represented 22 different U.S. states and two countries, the event’s widest participation reach
- The 49 sponsors behind those challengers represented a high-water mark of support
The morning event, annually organized by the Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board, was sold out.
Its final tally of funds raised for park initiatives is still to be determined, as a virtual version remains open until Apr. 23.
Since its 2006 debut, the Rev Run has raised roughly $550,000 for Valley Forge infrastructure improvement projects and programming.
Projects funded by Rev Run proceeds include:
- Bottle-filling stations
- New wayside interpretation panels for the Patriots of African Descent Monument
- Signage for informational midway kiosks
- Once Upon a Nation programming, an educational set of free storytelling benches directed at engaging children in true tales of the past
- Future maintenance needs of Sullivan’s Bridge
- The newly renovated Grand Parade Trail Steuben Plaza area

The Rev-Run funds directed at Steuben Plaza refer to the onsite contributions of Baron Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben,
the Prussian military officer who aided in the training of the Continental Army. His work is remembered in this video.
