Montgomery County is the ideal place to be if you enjoy long walks with your dog, writes Cayce Huebsch for Doggy Strides.
The Montgomery County Division of Parks, Trails, and Historic Sites maintains close to 60 miles of trails, providing for many outdoor adventure opportunities for you and your four-legged companion.
One of the best trails for dog-walking is the Schuylkill River Trail. The Montgomery County section of this beautiful and long trail offers picturesque views along the way.
It is also 10–12 feet wide, which makes it easy to keep a leashed dog (a trail requirement) on the paved path.
Next is Wissahickon Trail, also known as the Green Ribbon Preserve Trail. It runs for about 20 miles, parallel to the Wissahickon Creek.
Another great option is the Cross County Trail that currently runs just around three miles and provides a great setting for a pleasant stroll with your pooch.
And if you are looking for a different type of surface than asphalt, give the Pennypack Trail’s crushed stone a go.
