Donna RichemondMontgomery County Chief of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) — will know when her efforts have succeeded: She’ll be out of a job. Rachel Ravina explained in The Reporter Online.

Richemond was hired in Sept. 2021, bolstered by a stellar résumé of education (two master’s degrees) and experience.

While living in Horsham, she worked for Montgomery County Community College.

There, she ushered in a host of DEI initiatives and broadened its scope to encompass more than just race. She ensured that individuals of different gender identities, mental and physical abilities, sexual orientations, and veteran status felt welcome at the Blue Bell campus.

From her present Norristown home, she’s committing to the same outcome on the county level.

“I want … a community where people feel like they belong,” she said. “Where they have equity, and where systematic racism is eliminated.”

“[W]e are making strides, and I can’t wait to see where we are in five to 10 years as an organization … .”

She’s very pragmatic about the future of her county role: “I love my job,” she said. “But I would much rather be in a place where I wasn’t needed anymore.”
