Niche has issued its 2023 best places to live list, notably bestowing bragging rights to two Montgomery County communities among its top five.
This year’s evaluation is the ninth one compiled by Niche. Its analysis encompassed 228 cities and 17,932 towns.
Its analysts arrived at their assessments by crunching numbers from:
- The U.S. Census Bureau
- The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
- The Bureau of Labor Statistics
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
- Millions of resident reviews
The statistical exercise is intended to inform a public on the cusp of significant decisions such as locales for new home purchases or educational institutions for themselves or their children.
The No. 1 recommended community nationwide is Chesterbrook; it’s a four-year run for this Chester County site.
Nos. 3 and 5, however, belong to Montgomery County.
No. 3 nationally is Ardmore, which Niche also ranks as the second-highest recommendable living spot out of 1,520 in the state.
Noted advantages to Ardmore life are its:

- Median home value of $353,900
- Average household income of $107,087
- A+ ratings for schools
Penn Wynne took the No. 5 spot.
The Wynnewood-adjacent community earned accolades for its urban/suburban mix, bars, coffee shops, and excellent public schools.
