King of Prussia Home to One of the Nation’s 40 Largest Healthcare Systems

King of Prussia’s Universal Health Services ranked number 28 on the Becker’s Hospital Review list of the top 40 largest health systems in the U.S.

The health services company earned this placement for having over 400 facilities across the country, Puerto Rico, and even the U.K.

Becker’s also recently ranked Universal Health Services as number 14 out of the top 20 largest healthcare companies by revenue.

The Fortune 500 healthcare provider was founded in 1979 by Wharton School alum Alan Miller. It has generated $12.6 billion in revenue for 2021 and aided 3.2 million patients, according to its annual report.

In the county, it has locations in Fort Washington and Ambler; regionally, it serves Doylestown, Chester, and Philadelphia as well.

Universal Health Services commonly makes appearances on third-party rankings of size and profitability on the region’s healthcare landscape.

The Philadelphia Business Journal placed it in sixth place for the largest public companies of 2022 and fifth for largest healthcare systems in the area.

The PBJ ‘s highest-ranking health system in Montgomery County is Conshohocken’s AmerisourceBergen whose $236.2 billion in revenue landed it in fourth.
