Earlier this month, Montgomery County Community College opened a new Wellness Center at its Pottstown Campus to provide students with a variety of holistic support services that can help them succeed academically and personally, according to a staff report from The Reporter Online.

MCCC president Dr. Victoria L. Bastecki-Perez, the board of trustees, employees, and students along with local and county representatives and community members celebrated the official opening of the center in North Hall with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“We believe this innovative Wellness Center will become a model for other higher education institutions to serve the essential needs of their students in this holistic manner,” said Bastecki-Perez.

The center was created thanks to a $1.1 million Community Mental Health Services Block Grant from Montgomery County.

The Wellness Center space has five separate areas that provide a variety of services and programs, including the Collaboration Room which will be used for group-based activities, the Counseling Room, and the Sensory Room where students can decompress, unplug, and relax.

The Stock Up for Success Food Pantry and The Student Support Programs Room are also part of the new center.
