A well-known nonprofit organization recently made their way to Bucks County in order to observe the area’s vast array of bird species. John McDevitt wrote about the group for KYW Newsradio.

The National Audubon Society recently made a visit to Washington Crossing Historic Park in order to observe birds as part of its annual Christmas Bird Count.

The event gave local bird enthusiasts the chance to collect data on local bird species for the organization, which uses the information to work toward the national bird census.

“They can take those numbers and look at how that compares to 10 years ago, 20 years ago,” environmental education specialist Matthew Truesdale said.

Volunteers took their binoculars to the Bucks County park with Truesdale. They observed all the species that they could find and jotted down information for the organization.
