Thanksgiving Pies: Upper-Crust Versions Are Plentiful at Montgomery County’s Top Bakers

By

The Thanksgiving turkey may think it’s the main attraction at the table. But really, it’s all about the pie.

Several Montgomery County bakeries have found their true sweet spot in creating seasonal pies and desserts:

  • Clara’s Custom Cakes (130 West Main Street, Collegeville) focuses on extraordinary cakes and pies for customers who knows their desserts. Phone in orders will ensure a set-aside holiday meal finale like pumpkin-roll logs, pumpkin pie, apple-crumb pie, and beautifully decorated autumnal-themed cakes, ready for pickup
  • Beverly’s Pastry Shop (322 E. High Street, Pottstown) is taking pie orders via email. Fruit pies, specialty pies (bourbon pecan), and even shot-glass cheesecakes are all on the menu. It also creates a number of gluten-free desserts to ensure everyone can imbibe
  • Corropolese Bakery has pies, pies, and more pies: coconut custard, pumpkin, cherry, apple, apple crumb, caramel apple walnut, peach, pecan, blueberry, Boston cream, chocolate mousse, and lemon meringue to riffle through a few. With its three locations (Norristown, Limerick, and Audubon), Corropolese Bakery is extremely convenient
  • Kriebel’s Bakery Café (3140 Ridge Pike, Eagleville) has pies and other beautifully crafted sweets for after Thanksgiving dinner

For a dessert that can also bring some sweetness to an area family in need, Manna, the Phila. provider of meals to people with serious illnesses who may not be able to access them otherwise, sells Thanksgiving pies as a fundraiser.

Its “Pie in the Sky” drive (Nov. 22) offers apple, berry, sweet potato, pumpkin, pecan, gluten-free blueberry, and chocolate peanut butter.

This dessert option requires some effort — ordering ahead, travel time for pick up (from one of 17 area locations) — but those who navigate the process will have the deep thanks of the organization and the people it helps.
