Upper-Crust Pies for Spring and Summer Are Plentiful from Montgomery County’s Top Bakers

By

Several Montgomery County bakeries have found their true sweet spot in creating pies using spring fruits.

Their varieties will only expand, however, as summer crops begin coming in full strength, widening the flavor profiles to steady favorites like blueberry, blackberry, strawberry, and peach.

Until then, however, these are reliable recommendations:

  • Clara’s Custom Cakes (130 West Main Street, Collegeville) focuses on extraordinary cakes and pies for customers who knows their desserts. Varieties include pumpkin pie and apple-crumb
  • Beverly’s Pastry Shop (322 E. High Street, Pottstown) highlights fruit pies, specialty pies like bourbon pecan
  • Corropolese Bakery has pies, pies, and more pies: coconut custard, pumpkin, cherry, apple, apple crumb, caramel apple walnut, peach, pecan, blueberry, Boston cream, chocolate mousse, and lemon meringue. With its three locations (Norristown, Limerick, and Audubon), Corropolese Bakery is extremely convenient
  • Kriebel’s Bakery Café (3140 Ridge Pike, Eagleville) has pies and other beautifully crafted sweets for after Thanksgiving dinner

For an à la mode version with locally produced ice cream, an extra-decadent dessert, pick up a pint at one of the in-county ice cream makers, listed in a MONTCO Today back issue.

ICYMI, there is, indeed, a “proper” way to cut a pie.
