Jobs are always in high demand, especially in a time of inflation and imminent recession. In order to make a lasting impression, jobseekers should consider the following criteria, according to a Robert Half Survey that interviewed over 2,300 managers across the country.

Résumé Red Flags

Employers might find frequent job-hopping alarming. Not having the skills needed for the position is also something that is going to turn off the employer, as well as vague descriptions. It’s important to be as specific on a résumé as possible, so employers understand your previous position and your specialized skills.

Using Your Network

Robert Half revealed that 9 out of 10 managers are more likely to hire someone if they are referred by a current colleague. Building relationships with your co-workers helps lay the groundwork for future success.

Skills & Knowledge

67 percent of managers expressed preference of candidates with deeper, more specialized skills.

Remote Compensation

When it comes to remote work, 46 percent of employers say they determine the salary based on the cost of living where their employees are located. 33 percent said that the pay is based on the location of the company. 21 percent say they determine pay based on the amount of experience the employee has.

Retracing Your Steps

69 percent of managers say that they’ve rehired employees they remained on good terms with. These rehires are trusted candidates who have the skills their company needs.
