Oct. 17 Montco Planning Commission Meeting to Solicit Resident Ideas: What Will We Look Like in 2050?

The MCPC's work is trying to envision the best version of Montgomery County in 2050; maybe that includes flying cars to ease traffic on 422 or the Conshohocken curve?

The agenda for an Oct. 17 public meeting with the Montgomery County Planning Commission (MCPC) starts with a brief overview of the county’s comprehensive plan and its 2025 intended start date.

From there, however, the focus shifts to residents — attending either in person or online — can ask questions and react to the long-term plans for the county.

The 7:00 p.m. session takes place in the County Commissioners’ boardroom on the 8th floor of One Montgomery Plaza, Norristown.

The virtual option, requiring registration, will stream live on Zoom and remain as an online, viewable file thereafter.

The MCPC centered its work thus far under a theme of change. With that as a guide, it discussed and formalized methods to tackle key issues that include:

  • Housing
  • Land use
  • Utilities
  • Preservation
  • Transportation

Following the presentation and discussion, the MCPC will inform all participants about how to give detailed feedback on the proposal and the priorities it reflects. This evaluative phase of the project will also feature an online survey.
