Jenkintown Barber Celebrates Six Decades of Affable Career; Indicates No Hint of Taking a Powder

By

More than 100 people recently gathered at a Jenkintown barber shop. They weren’t there for a trim; rather, they wanted to thank local barber Paul Strate for his 60 years wielding scissors professionally. Dawn Timmeney shaved down the story to its salient points for FOX29 Philadelphia.

Paul Strate, owner of Mr. Paul’s Barber Shop, has been cutting hair since he was 17 years old. Now at 77, he’s still razor sharp in skill.

So dedicated is he to his clientele, that in all those years, he has never missed a day of work.

And his 300 regulars have come to rely on not only his punctuality and artistry but also his congeniality.

“You really do have to be affable, affordable, and available,” said Strate.

His Yelp reviews confirm that general assessment.

Joanna P. from Phila. wrote in 2015:

“Many thanks to Paul for giving our three-year-old a great haircut. His patience and skill were much appreciated, and our little boy says he is happy to return!

“We have struggled to find a barber willing to take [his] time with a fidgety child, and Paul has made the search worthwhile.”

More on Paul Strate, longtime and masterful barber, is at FOX29 Philadelphia.
