For Candidate Mehmet Oz, Is Bryn Athyn Really His ‘No Place Like Home’?

Neighbors have spotted Pa. Sen. candidate Dr. Oz jogging on the Pennypack Trail, nonetheless, the depth of his Montgomery County residency is being questioned.

Pa. senatorial candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz’s residency in Bryn Athyn has been an issue since he entered the campaign. Julia Terruso addressed the geography issue with some local input in The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Before the career-switch from physician/on-air personality to politician, Oz and wife Lisa Lemole were New Jersey residents.

When he threw his hat into the ring, Oz registered as a resident with a Lower Moreland address (bordering Bryn Athyn), where Lemole has familial roots.

That connection has been questioned, given a perceived lack of a steady presence — which Oz explains as resulting from rigorous campaign travel and a home renovation — and an embarrassing typo on a registration form.

But anecdotal evidence from neighbors indicate he’s indeed nested here.

He’s been seen running the Pennypack Trail and attending a neighborhood pig roast.

Local family friend Andy Adams corroborates the sightings, saying, “When he’s not out on the road in Pennsylvania, he’s home. I literally take a walk almost every night, and his cars are in his driveways.”

Not every neighbor, however, is convinced.

Neighbor Jeremy Finkeldey said, “Oz has never lived in Bryn Athyn.” He claims that the celeb merely bought the property and “…put up two Oz signs at the end of the driveway.”

In his own words, Oz has said of Bryn Athyn: “It’s just bucolic to go home and be with people, good souls trying to do the right thing raising families.”

More about Dr. Oz’s Montgomery County residency is at The Philadelphia Inquirer.
