A Blue Bell landscaper has, for the second time, recreated Hollywood's "Field of Dreams" in Iowa.

Blue Bell commercial landscaper BrightView has once again pulled off something of a miracle in Iowa. For the second time in its corporate history, it was engaged by Major League Baseball (MLB) to recreate the retro baseball diamond from Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa, the setting for the 1989 movie.

The Montgomery County firm was chosen for this unusual build as MLB’s official field consultant.

The field will host an Aug. 11 game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Cubs.

Murray Cook, BrightView’s Sports Turf division president, said, “This was an incredibly satisfying project. Our goal was to build a field that not only replicates the Field of Dreams movie magic but makes it so players are literally stepping out of the cornfield onto a first-class major league field.”

The Blue Bell contractor first carved a playing surface from a sea of corn for the 2019 edition, the event’s first edition.

Crafting the ballpark now, as then, took 100,000 square feet of sod, 4,000 tons of sand, and 300 pounds of grass seed. It is nestled amid 159 acres of stalks that are 10–12 feet tall.

The company’s post-game work list is no less ambitious. It will move on to field management of the MLB Little League Classic in Williamsport.
