Montgomery County Community College has two open employment opportunities, one of which is ideal for someone seeking a career in the entertainment industry.
That spot may not be as glamorous as a performer or as artistically engaging as a scenic designer. But it’s nonetheless crucial to the overall success of the college’s theater program.
The role being cast in this instance is for a part-time box office coordinator.
The hired professional for this position will:
- Manage the box office, front of house, and concession areas
- Support box office work-study students and interns
- Collaborate daily with the theater’s senior director and senior volunteer coordinator to ensure smooth daily operations
Being entertainment-based, the job does involve evening and weekend hours.
Applicants should have professional assets that include a bachelor’s degree, supervisory experience, database and financial skills, comfort in public speaking, customer service excellence, and a love of the theater.
A second on-campus career opportunity — far from the footlights but just as important — seeks a coordinator of student services.
This position is responsible for developing and coordinating comprehensive, college-wide approaches to addressing the needs of students, strengthen enrollment and registration, improve retention, and increase academic success.
As with the box-office opening, the coordinator of student services is appropriate for bachelor-degree holders who can accommodate Saturday and evening work schedules.
