Immaculata University is expanding its degree offerings within the Division of Education with a new online Master of Science in higher education that begins this fall. Tuition for the 30-credit degree is very affordable at $15,000 for the entire program—just $500 per credit.

The master’s program is designed to prepare or advance individuals in the field of higher education including student advisement, admissions and recruitment, student affairs, athletics, career development, communications and marketing, alumni relations, and other campus departments.

Serving in a college and university setting through these positions provides opportunity to engage in the formation of future leaders while working in an exciting and active environment. Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that even entry levels roles in higher education typically require a master’s degree.

“Higher education is an ever-evolving field, this new program prepares professionals to be at the forefront of change,” said Angela Tekely, Ed.D., vice president for academic affairs and provost. “We are proud of our track record for developing educators at all levels and are excited to offer a master’s degree in higher education.”

The higher education degree is cohort based, where students follow a course of study designed to build a close professional network with peers in the program. The program can be completed in five semesters, with courses offered in accelerated seven-week sessions and students taking one course at a time. All courses in the program are offered in an online format—with both synchronous and asynchronous experiences

In addition, the new master’s in higher education transitions seamlessly with Immaculata’s doctoral degree in higher education. Students interested in Immaculata’s Ed.D. in higher education can choose concentrations in administration and instruction or community college leadership.

“The master’s degree in higher education can open doors for those aspiring to work at the postsecondary level,” said Marcia Parris, Ed.D., dean of the College of Graduate Studies. “Drawing upon our strength and expertise in this area, the M.S. degree prepares students for doctoral study in our established Ed.D. in higher education.”
