Garrett Zobel of Hatfield — a defensive lineman for the Villanova football team — has been picked by the sports press and head coaches for inclusion on the preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association team. It is his second consecutive year earning his way on the roster, as reported by Villanova Football.

Zobel, a LaSalle High School grad who lettered in both football and wrestling, started every game for Villanova last season, contributing to its 10-3 record.

His collegiate career in sports had an auspicious beginning. Despite being deployed in only three games as a freshman, Zobel made key defensive plays against the University of Richmond and the University of Delaware. Villanova won both games.

By sophomore year, he was on the field for all 13 games, nine of which went to the Wildcats.

The 2020 season saw him move into the starting lineup, where he racked up three solo stops, eight assisted tackles, and one sack for loss.

Zobel is a force on the field, but he’s also a committed student. He has eight consecutive semesters on the honor rolls of both the CAA Commissioner and the Villanova Athletic Director.
