A Bala Cynwyd-based developer’s plan to build an apartment complex at the site of the Quality Inn in West Goshen was rejected by township supervisors who voted unanimously to nix the proposal, writes Bill Rettew for the Daily Local News.

The roughly nine-acre site at Stanton Avenue and Route 202 is zoned Limited Commercial, which means that apartments would not be allowed without a zoning change.

Sam Tarantini, managing director of the Montco-based Branchport Capitol, submitted a proposal to build 80 one-bedroom, 37 studio, and 51 two-bedroom apartments at the site. The apartments would have been for lease at market rates.

Students or Section 8 renters would not have been allowed. The proposal also included climate-controlled self-storage units on part of the property.

According to Supervisor’s Chair Shaun Walsh, one of the major concerns was the possibility of increased traffic volume at the busy single proposed entrance to Route 202. Another issue was crime. Police Chief Mike Carroll said during a recent meeting of the board that police responded to 495 incidents at the hotel in 2020.
