The 35,621-square-foot building at 410 Markley Street is no more, as Bennett Properties have purchased the building and had it torn down, writes Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The building on one acre on Markley Street housed Norristown’s Times Herald for decades, and now a Harleysville real estate firm, Bennett Properties, run by Ross Ziegler, purchased it for $600,000.

Ziegler had been planning on buying the building for a while but COVI-19 delayed his plans, saying he’s a year behind.

Current plans for the site are for a 320-unit apartment building, and Ziegler is working with the borough, who had approved the zoning of the proposed $50 million apartment complex. He is expecting the process of land planning to take half a year to be completed.

“I’m pretty excited about the project,” Ziegler said. “You look at Norristown and it’s ideally located in the middle of two employment hubs, King of Prussia and Philadelphia. It’s across from the train station and near 202 and the turnpike.”
